6 Tips to Survive Exam Season

The spring exam season is just around the corner, which means the usual nightmare for university students and the biggest challenge yet for high school seniors: the final exams. On top of that, the days are getting warmer, spring fatigue is at its peak, and the lucky ones are already spending their evenings at the first concerts of the season... while you? You're stuck in your room with your notes and study materials.

To successfully finish the semester or your high school years despite all this, you need a solid battle plan! Our student union is here to help you with that!

1. Make a List!

Write down which subjects you’ll be tested on and when. Note the type of exams you'll face: oral exams, written exams with essay questions, or multiple-choice tests? If there will be topics to draw, list the number and titles of the topics as well!

2. Plan Your Time!

Set a realistic goal for each day of studying and stick to the plan! Many apps can help you organize your tasks easily. Pay attention to deadlines and try to study multiple subjects each day if possible. Using different areas of your brain throughout the day will make your studying more effective.

3. Get 7-8 Hours of Sleep Every Night!

Do you really think that studying day and night will make you perform better? Believe it or not, if you're well-rested, you’ll be much more focused, which will improve your performance. Additionally, your stress levels will decrease because the world looks entirely different in the morning light.

4. Don’t Study the Night Before the Exams!

Studying the night before an exam can make things worse! Instead, relax, enjoy the sunshine, and do something to take your mind off the exam. Go to bed early to avoid being late for the exam you've prepared for days. Of course, this advice doesn't apply if you're only starting to study the night before...

5. Take Regular Breaks!

Take 10 minutes off every hour, 1-2 hours off daily, and 1-2 days off weekly to recharge. Use this time effectively by exercising, walking outdoors, or meeting up with friends so that new impulses and fresh air can help you dive back into studying with renewed energy.

6. Reward Yourself!

Rewarding yourself works as an adult too: treating yourself to a small reward after each minor or major success will keep you motivated. Just be careful not to overdo it, and make sure the reward matches the success's magnitude!

Believe it or not, a little work can also help you recharge mentally!
