Resolution Revolution!

Take your New Year’s planning to the next level! For ages, New Year's resolutions have been believed to hold magical power, marking a fresh start in our lives. We also believe that promises made to ourselves greatly aid in planning, giving us a significant boost and serving as a guide during the end-of-year demotivation and hustle.

However, it’s essential to follow a few tips to ensure your resolution truly meets your expectations: the secret lies in thoughtfulness and planning. What exactly do we mean?

Resolution – But at What Cost?

When you set a goal, it's crucial to consider the cost. This could be a financial burden too; for example, if you plan to work out every Monday next year, you'll need a gym membership. Planning such a resolution means you must acknowledge the need for a job. This way, you won’t be hit by the realization in mid-January; instead, you’ll be prepared and ready to achieve your goal!

But the cost isn’t just monetary. If you want to start a new hobby, it may take time away from other activities, and so on. That’s why it’s crucial to set well-thought-out goals instead of making spontaneous resolutions.

Small Steps – Bigger Results!

“From New Year’s, I’ll exercise every day!”

“I’ll lose weight starting January!”

Sound familiar? The reality is, you’re unlikely to achieve these grand resolutions.

Instead of making big, flashy resolutions, focus on the first step of your goal. Additionally, it's essential to set specific, realistic activities for the new year. Instead of writing “exercise every day” in your planner, choose precise times and forms of exercise: for example, “do yoga every Monday and Wednesday afternoon for an hour.” This is a smaller-scale resolution, but believe me, small steps lead to significant achievements later!

Think Outside the Box!

Weight loss and exercise, saving money, traveling…

Most New Year’s resolutions can be categorized into these groups. You don’t need to let these influence your planning. Feel free to think about what truly motivates you and what bothered you at the end of the year. Did you fall behind on a work project and want to finish it? Make that your New Year’s resolution!

Of course, there’s nothing wrong if your thoughts revolve around lifestyle changes. However, it’s worth sometimes looking beyond the usual patterns and resolving to make smaller but important changes in your life.

Feeling Pressured by Resolutions? Let It Go!

There's also nothing wrong if you’re not a fan of New Year’s resolutions. It’s essential to recognize what motivates you. So, if the idea of a fresh start in January doesn’t work for you, don’t succumb to the pressure, as it will only lead to feelings of failure.

However, it’s important not to skip planning your January tasks! You’ll start work more organized after the holidays if you review what you need to pay attention to before the New Year’s parties. This could be wrapping up the previous year, planning for the new year, updating your resume, or scheduling your upcoming vacations.
